Peru: Gov't creates group to support COVID-19 vaccination process

The Executive Branch has created a working group to support the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination process in Peru.

According to Ministerial Resolution No. 373-2020-PCM, published in El Peruano official gazette, the aim of the group is to coordinate and articulate efforts aimed at implementing the vaccination for the prevention of COVID-19.

The document provides that the above-mentioned group will be made up of the President of the Council of Ministers or her representative, who presides over it; the head of the Health Ministry (Minsa); as well as ministers or representatives of the following sectors: Defense, Interior, Transport and Communications, Economy and Finance, and Education.

Additionally, the group will be composed of the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) Executive-President, as well as a representative of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR) and the Business Solutions to Poverty association.

Tasks

The working group's purpose is to coordinate and articulate logistics activities aimed at the implementation of the vaccination process to be carried out by various competent entities.

In addition, it shall propose actions and activities needed towards vaccination; follow up and systematize the actions undertaken; as well as propose actions and measures that contribute to meeting the working group's goal.

On the other hand, the ministerial resolution states that the working group's technical secretariat will be headed by the representative of one of the member entities, who will be appointed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM).

The technical secretariat shall submit regular reports and will be responsible for carrying out the registration of agreements, as well as keeping minutes and documents safe.

Finally, the document indicates that the working group will be established within a maximum period of five working days from the date of publication and will be in effect until August 31, 2021.
